Music of love and loss, also featuring works by Barber, Britten, Tin, and others
Although it was written in 1932, Herbert Howells’s Requiem was not performed until 1980. It has since been recognized as one of the finest and most moving pieces of western choral writing. Join us as we present this profound meditation on grief and hope, paired with selections like Caroline Shaw’s and the swallow, Benjamin Britten’s “Concord” (from Gloriana), two excerpts from Christopher Tin’s The Lost Birds, and other works in this extraordinary concert on themes of love and loss.
